After four years of intensive work, the european standardisation organisations CEN and ETSI have finalised the basic set of standards necessary for realising cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems on European roads. The European Commission who had mandated the standardisation in 2009 announced this very important milestone for the deployment of C-ITS on 12th February 2014. This also launches an intensive information transfer to all stakeholders explaining the importance of standardisation and the benefits C-ITS will bring to future mobility.
The supportive action COMeSafety2 has extensively contributed to standardisation and now also supports the publication of background information on C-ITS and future work in standardisation.
